Spirit Week at ACS!

From ACS:
Dear Alton Central School Families,
According to education experts, 80% of learning is visual. If a child can’t see well, it makes it much more difficult for them to learn. Unless vision problems are detected early and corrected, they risk becoming permanent.
Tuesday, December 16th, the Lions Club will be coming to Alton Central School to offer a free vision screening to all our students, sponsored by the Wolfeboro Lions Club Operation KidSight Program.
The process uses a Welch-Allyn Spot Vision Screener, which takes an instant scan of your child’s eyes to determine the possible presence of eye disorders
Your child will look at a blinking light for about a second
There is no direct physical contact with your child
No eye drops are involved
The screener has the capability of detecting Amblyopia (lazy eye), nearsightedness (Myopia), farsightedness (Hyperopia), astigmatism (asymmetrical focus), strabismus (misaligned eye), and anisometropia (unequal power between eyes)
This is a great non-invasive opportunity to have your child’s eyes screened for any issues and offers a much more comprehensive picture of your child’s vision health than our traditional screening.
If you DO NOT WISH for your child to participate in this program, please call or email the school nurse at aelliott@sau72.org by Friday, December 12th, to let her know you would like to opt out of the program.
If you already opted out of health screenings on your child’s Student Health Form, or if we have not received your child’s Student Health Form, your child will not participate in this screening.
If you have any questions, please call April Elliott at 603-875-7500 or email: aelliott@sau72.org
Thank you,
April Elliott, RN

Hello ACS Families!
It’s that time of year again! On Thursday, October 30th we will host our annual student flu clinic for students in grades K - 8. Our clinic is being offered in cooperation with the New Hampshire Immunization Program (Division of Public Health Services) and your Winnipesaukee Public Health Network and is free to ACS students. Trained medical staff will be present to administer the vaccine.
If you do not wish for your child to participate in the school’s flu clinic, no further action is needed.
This year registration for the clinic will be online. Follow this link to register your child for their flu vaccine https://nh-consentforms.wellbility.app/consent-form-influenza/alton-central-school-elem.
During the registration process, you may be asked to choose an appointment time for your child. Please choose any time slot that is available, as this is simply a formality and we will not be following this schedule. Students will be called down by grade level, as we’ve done in previous years.
If you do not have access to technology or need assistance with the online registration process, please reach out to our school social worker, Mrs. Ekberg at lekberg@sau72.org .
If you would prefer a paper copy of this consent form please contact Mrs. Elliott at aelliott@sau72.org.
Your child’s vaccination information is confidential and protected by state and federal law. Vaccination information will now be safely stored in New Hampshire’s Immunization Information System (NHIIS), which brings together information from different health care providers into a single permanent record. Your child’s immunization record is available to you at any time. Additional information is available at https://www.dhhs.nh.gov/sites/g/files/ehbemt476/files/documents2/nhiis-sbc-info-1pager.pdf
