Here are some pictures from Mrs. Ryan’s 1st grade walking field trip to TD Bank. During our enrichment time we have been learning about wants and needs, community helpers & spending/saving. Students got to go inside the bank vault and learn about how a bank helps us save for important things kids & families need.

The New Hampshire School Social Workers Association would like to extend its heartfelt condolences to our neighbors in Maine who have been impacted by the recent mass shooting. The NHSSWA has compiled a list of resources to support each other, as well as school staff, students and families: When tragedies occur, we all respond to them differently. If you would like to have a discussion in your class about what happened, here are some suggestions to make the discussion appropriate and helpful: 1. Limit the time (ex. let's take 10 minutes to talk about this) 2. Allow for a brief discussion of facts, then focus on how those in your classroom are feeling 3. Remind students that everyone handles trauma differently, there is no right or wrong way to feel 4. Make sure the discussion is student driven 5. Thank students for sharing, remind them that they can access the school supports; school social workers, school counselors, school nurses, if they would like to take a quick break. The School Social Workers Association of America has published Resolution Statements to support these conversations: ● A Public Health Approach to School Safety & Violence Prevention ● BEST PRACTICES IN SUPPORTING AND ADDRESSING THE NEEDS OF STUDENTS WHO EXPERIENCE GRIEF ● School Social Work Association of America Responds to Recent Mass Shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio Additionally, we would like to share with you Nine Tips for Talking With Kids About Trauma Respectfully Yours, Courtney Porter, President Sheelu Joshi , Secretary Laura Piscitello Treasurer Julie Barbick, At-Large Board Member Cynthia Collea, At-Large Board Member Laurie Ekberg, At-Large Board Member
